Because the Preacher said I have to!

If you are right wing be certain to only read and listen to magazines and broadcasts which support your views. certainly don’t look at places like oh, CNN or Wikipedia who certainly are mistaken about things. in fact as far as science is concerned just say well that is the best humanists can put out and in spite of it being as plain as the nose on your face… ignore ah, the wrong truth. yeah that’s it.

I just heard a few weeks ago about this very odd phrase called confirmation bias. it means in the nutshell that most people will side with only the messages they hear and read that confirm what they already believe. It sounds silly really way too over simplistic. however, I have really been dipping into this… I am I believe a believer, I invited Jesus into my heart in 1972, just before my 9th birthday. This even in my mind was pretty real, I trusted God back then and I hang onto my beliefs, as far as I knew back when I was 9.  However it stands to reason… so they say if you are "born-again" then you are a Christian and as a Christian you must side with what the preacher says you gotta support. which means that we all support the right to bear arms (semi automatic rifles) and that a woman does not have the right to say if she aborts, that all homosexuals should be put to death because they are the reason we have AIDS… the list goes on and on… at first… I don’t know if I agreed with them but I worship right along side them and its easy to follow the group… however when I started to question things… oh lets take abortion that is always the big one for most churches… they say… that their way is the right way because… and I have the hardest time following along with the propaganda they place in front of me. frankly I hear what they say I see what they have as proof and I feel "who the heck are these pod people? don’t they have a lick of sense?" there is no actual science that I can see yet that sides with their claim that its evil, counter productive, a sin against nature and harmful to the woman and to the idea that all babies should be looked after. as sweet as their promotion of "pro life" I think the whole thing is rather ridiculous and apparently the thinkers of America… side with me. A woman does get to say what happens to her body, in spite of these throngs of "Christians" who say I cant be a Christian because I take an opposing view..

Confirmation bias works two ways. first off a Christian who has bought into the belief that there ought not be any abortions will deny any facts presented that opposes his beliefs, he wont give it the time of day, he wont be open to listening to any proofs which oppose his beliefs.

And as we seen the second danger of confirmation bias is because there is proof, a body of thinking which opposes these… well family values. The Christian, the good Samaritan, the prayer warriors feel they have to fight. this is where it gets dirty. They feel that anything that opposes any part of any belief… suddenly is a threat to the core belief. Jesus came he died he rose, he lives to call the poor the weak the lost home. but… it looks like so many forgot all that. confirmation bias… its everywhere.
