[first let me bore you with this urge to vent, I gotta write
stuff. I am persuaded that this is an activity that is… well its as important
to me as sleep. I love to write. I love to read what I wrote and in a tiny
prideful way I hope that someone somewhere will read what I said and click like…
well, this is not face book but you understand.]
[plus… again in a prideful way. I feel that when I take the
time to fashion an essay, it marks my day my year my decade… as significant…
have you ever sat down and asked yourself what was it I did last week? and you
have no clue? do we get waves of dementia? or did you in fact exist without really
making a difference? When I write, especially to Blogger which seems to be the
place to make your mark and Google will never delete it… I figure in years to
come when I do really get dementia {Hell no!} I can go back and read this
stuff. I bet I would get a kick out of it.. so that’s my soap box… onto the
topic]
Today I Discovered Khan academy.
Oh I been hearing about it for about a year now, always its
given great reviews. I first heard of it on TED which I as well recommend. [Video embedded at end of this post, page down to see it]

But I was on CIG [link above] today and Thomas Frank mentions that Khan
is the one link every successful college student ought to have bookmarked. so I
clicked it and got an eyeful. really the first page is well laid out. If you don’t
want to actually dive into the academy a 2 minute skim of the front page will
leave you at least knowing the jest of the site. so give it a try.
In Depth it’s a long list of videos. Elementary School
Videos to start. takes you from the very first ideas in say math or Science and
walks you thru slowly to review perhaps or actually give you a head start if
you were say in elementary school.
What I got into was one of the lines of teaching from Health
and Medicine. I seen there was a line which mentioned Diabetes [yay I am type 2
and my sugars now are under 130, trust me this is huge for me] but yeah I only
watched the first tape and its easy to understand. I do think this is a nice
site
Did I mention its entirely FREE.
The largest part of the offerings is stuff about math, goes from 1st grade up to Linear Algebra and they are adding new courses all the time, I hope they give us stuff about better writing skills and English.
