Okay i easily have over 500 bookmarks. its clutter its a head ache.
I mean i find a site i like and something in me rises up and says i demand we don't loose this page, its a resource it is a sign of success, its bullshit.
what i do is stuff the site. i have tons of folders too but i don't keep up on it
So anyhow i tried out several ideas. first idea was to look into Google bookmarks
the trouble with this site is there is no easy way to import your bookmarks it was choppy at best. i did like that you can annotate and put in a personal description plus it had tags
skip ahead
there is a chrome extension called Neat bookmarks
What this extension does mainly is create an index to search all the 500+ bookmarks i have stored. its rather intuitive. plus it adds a new use to your omni box at the top type star (*) then space and you can search from there too. very cool i think everyone ought to have this
the highest rated tool was a paid site called DIIGO. it allows free users 20 pages. you basically do not bookmark a link instead it copies and archives the whole page for you. second it give you the ability to put sticky notes on these pages and a whole lot more arrows highlight you name it
but it costs and as a pirate super user i just sort of got sick, i wish i could afford it but no
The last tool i already had. i just didn't use it. its free for the most part but i do pay my 5 dollars a month to EVERNOTE http://evernote.com/premium/
it takes a while to learn the system its not as intuitive as Diigo, but the web clipper tool has all the goodies that Diigo has. and there is a free version that really has a huge space you can use.
Evernote has tons of space to add notes to your clipped pages
you can clip a selection a page view or the whole page top to bottom there is highlights and arrows all sorts of fun stuff
finally once you have set up all this in clipping your page, the main window that files all your evernote entries lets you sort the bookmarks, search threw your bookmarks, tag each selection and you never have to worry about loosing the clips
I pay into evernote, for other reasons. true i love the application and especially that you can make huge voice notes (for sermons or lectures). it as well serves as a camera photo storage, and it has the "clearly" tool / extension which when you hit it will re write the page you are on to only show content. meaning that the adds and all the other crap vanishes. plus clearly can read the article to you. so yeah i think its worth having.
Anyhow in summery if you can afford it try Diigo because its easy to learn
But Evernote has a lot going for it
